My Name is May Ten a proud Malaysian who has called the beautiful country of New Zealand home for the past six years. It has been a journey filled with self-discovery, cultural immersion, and personal growth.
Chinese is my native language and fluent in Hakka, Cantonese, Malay, and Mandarin. I learned English during secondary school years back in Malaysia before I arrived in New Zealand and this semester, I am studying English Level 2.
When I arrived in New Zealand, I knew that mastering the English language would be important for my personal and professional growth. That is when I discovered Dynaspeak, an English language school with multiple branches conveniently located near where I lived. Little that I know that this decision would shape my future in ways I could never have imagined.
From the start, I was impressed by Dynaspeak professional and engaging teaching methods. But my experience went beyond just language learning, it was a journey of cultural exploration. I embraced the fascinating Māori culture and gaining a deeper appreciation for my adopted homeland.
My confidence in speaking English increased more and more everyday, I had the opportunity to interact with students from other countries. However, the true essence of my Dynaspeak experience was my teacher, Reema. With her kindness and patience, she instilled in me the confidence to express myself freely in English.
As I reflect on my journey, my long-term goal remains steadfast, to continue learning, to never stop exploring the depths of knowledge, and to embrace the belief that practice makes perfect.
