Originally from China, Juan Yang has been living in Auckland for about three to four years. Her mother tongue is Mandarin, and although she had learned some English during her school years in China, she felt that studying in an English-speaking country would give her the chance to truly improve.
Juan decided to join DynaSpeak because she wanted to enhance her English skills and make daily life in New Zealand more convenient. She is currently studying NZCEL Level 3 Applied General and has found the experience both effective and rewarding.
“This is my first time learning English in an English-speaking country,” Juan explains. “Of course, it is much more effective than learning in China.”
Her time at DynaSpeak has been a mix of emotions — “sometimes happy, sometimes nervous,” she admits — but she appreciates the progress she has made step by step. She values the opportunity to study alongside classmates from different backgrounds and feels her skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing have grown stronger.
For Juan, the impact of studying at DynaSpeak goes beyond just improving her English. It has given her more confidence in daily conversations and helped her feel more connected to her life in Auckland.
Looking ahead, Juan is determined to keep improving. Her personal motto is simple yet powerful: “Step by step. Day day up!” She believes that with steady effort, she will continue to achieve her goals.
