My name is Xumin Wang. I came to New Zealand from China on the 4th of July, 2018, and I’ve now been living here for almost seven years. Mandarin is my mother tongue, and before I arrived I only knew a little English from school in China.
I wanted to keep learning, so I searched on Google and found that DynaSpeak offers night classes. That was perfect for me, because I work full-time during the day. Right now, I’m studying NZCEL Level 3 General.
In the past, my English learning was very different. Back in China, I focused mostly on exams. Later, when I studied in the library here in New Zealand, I spent more time on listening and speaking. At DynaSpeak, I can learn all the skills together — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — and that has made a big difference.
Since joining, I’ve improved my English, made new friends, and also learned more about New Zealand culture. My goal is simple: I want to study English and I will keep following the guidance of my teachers at DynaSpeak to reach that goal.
There’s one message from my teacher Christine that I will always remember:
‘Don’t struggle with the hardships of today. Keep going. In a few years, you will thank yourself for the efforts you made today.’
Her words inspire me to keep learning and to believe that every step I take now will shape my future.
