My name is Huiling, but I also go by Laura. I’ve been living in New Zealand for seven years, originally coming from Dalian, China. My mother tongue is Chinese, and I also speak Japanese — I used to work as a Japanese-Chinese interpreter. Before coming to New Zealand, I had an intermediate level of English, which I learned during high school. I chose to study at DynaSpeak because a friend recommended it, and I’m really glad I did. I studied at another language school six years ago, but the experience at DynaSpeak has been quite different. Here, the environment is more supportive, the teachers come from diverse backgrounds and teach in a natural, engaging way. The classes and online resources have helped me improve my listening and writing skills, and I’ve gained a deeper understanding of New Zealand’s culture. I even made the big decision to quit my job to study here — and it’s been worth it. I’ve made new friends, including some Kiwi friends, and I feel much more confident communicating in English. I plan to continue studying and developing my skills even further. My time at DynaSpeak has been a very valuable and memorable part of my journey in New Zealand.
