Kia ora! My name is Omar, and I’ve been in New Zealand for six months. I’m originally from Syria and speak Arabic as my first language. I learned a little bit of English back in high school, but I’m now studying at Level 1 at DynaSpeak to improve my skills.

I chose DynaSpeak because it’s free and close to home, which makes it really convenient. I didn’t get a high enough mark to start a Level 3 course at Unitec, so I’m working hard to build up my English here. I’m also studying at Mt Albert Grammar, but I enjoy the smaller classes at DynaSpeak — we get to focus more on pronunciation and speaking clearly.

I’ve already made some great friends, especially from the Chinese community, and we always try to speak English together.

My goal is to become an engineer one day. I know I’ll need to be strong in maths, physics, and English, so I’m ready to work hard to get there!
