My name is Yan Liao, and I have been living in New Zealand for eight years since moving from China. I grew up speaking Chinese and Cantonese, but before I came here, my English was very limited — just some basic words and phrases I learned at school.

I first heard about DynaSpeak from a friend who was already studying here. She encouraged me to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did. I am now studying NZCEL Level 3 General, and what I really like about the course is how closely the content relates to daily life. It makes learning English so much more useful and practical for me.

Since joining, my listening skills have improved a lot, and I’ve also made new friends. Of course, there have been challenges — there are more exams than I expected, and sometimes it feels quite busy and a little stressful! But overall, it has been a very positive experience.

What I appreciate most are the people around me. The receptionist is always friendly, the teacher is kind, and my classmates are very cooperative. Together, they create such a warm and supportive environment that makes me feel comfortable and motivated to keep learning.

My goal for the future is to improve my English in all areas and eventually become a Chinese teacher. I know that building my English step by step will not only help me achieve this dream but also make my life in New Zealand much smoother.
