My name is Yas. I am 5 years in New Zealand, and my parents are originally from Iran and Afghanistan. My first language is Farsi. In my home country, I attended high school and a language institute part-time. Since moving to New Zealand, I have studied a little bit at an evening school.
I chose my current class because it is free and reasonably close to my home. I wanted to study in the city, but there were no suitable night classes available. I am planning to study in the city next semester if possible.
I find that classes here are more structured, with more homework and more tests than I was used to before. I have also learned a lot about New Zealand, such as its geography. For example, I now know that the Waikato is the longest river in New Zealand.
In the future, I hope to have my own business one day.
